Then one afternoon; we noticed cows grazing on our property and destroying our crops. Dad and Vince went out to ask them to leave and the young boys grazing the cows attacked them. They bruised Dad’s face and sprained Vince’s arm badly. Immediately the scuffle ended, Dad went straight to their leader to find out why he had reneged on their promise not to graze on our land. Their leader was shocked and apologetic. He told Dad to let him grill the boys and call a proper meeting. When he did call the meeting; the boys confessed to have been bribed by some people in the community to provoke us by grazing on our land. They gave them express instructions to attack us if we resisted them. These boys were to do the dirty work of eliminating us on their behalf. The leader of this cattle community made these boys prostrate while apologizing and gave a stern warning to all his people to have nothing but respect for us.
