The Federal Government is set to announce the 2nd cohort of 270,000 fellows for its 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program on February 29th, 2024. Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, disclosed this during an update on the program.


The selected fellows will commence their training in March, marking a significant step towards the government's goal of training 3 million Nigerians in technical skills. Dr. Tijani expressed gratitude for the continued support from partners and stakeholders in realizing this objective.


In a statement shared via his official handle, the Communications Minister outlined key developments in the program:


  • Announcement of the 2nd phase fellows on February 29th, 2024.
  • Commencement of training for the selected individuals in March.
  • Finalization of job placements for the first cohort graduates, with over 1,400 organizations expressing interest in hiring them.
  • Emphasis on connecting trained talent with employment opportunities, aligning with the program's objective.


The 3MTT initiative is integral to Nigeria's Renewed Hope agenda, aiming to bolster the country's technical workforce to drive its digital economy and position Nigeria as a hub for skilled professionals.


The first phase of the program, conducted in partnership with NITDA, involved various stakeholders, including fellows, training providers, partners, and placement organizations. It focused on identifying individuals interested in specific skills and funding their training to meet industry demands.


Skills imparted during the first phase encompassed a range of technology-driven capabilities, such as Digital Marketing, Project Management Software, Cloud Platforms Navigation, Data Analysis and Visualization, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), CRM Management, Accounting Software, Graphics Design, and UX/UI Design, among others.
