Residents Commended for Apprehending Suspected Man with Human Skull

The Lagos State Police Command has praised the residents of Adamo, Ikorodu, for capturing Babalola, an Islamic cleric allegedly found in possession of a human skull. The residents handed over the suspect to the police, along with others who were also arrested in connection with the incident.

In a 29-second video obtained by PUNCH Online, the suspect, clad in native attire, was surrounded by residents and officials of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps. The footage captured him placing a human skull and other suspected human parts in a polythene bag, with blood visible from one of his eyes.

While details of the incident remain unclear, Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the state police command, assured residents via his Twitter handle, @BenHundeyin, that justice would prevail in the matter. He commended the people of Ikorodu for avoiding vigilante justice.

“We commend the good people of Ikorodu for doing the right thing and not yielding to jungle justice. We will ensure justice is done,” Hundeyin stated in response to a tweet by user @DejiAdesogan, who first reported the incident.

Late Friday, @DejiAdesogan tweeted, “Residents of Adamo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, have handed over a popular Islamic cleric and four of his men to the police after they were allegedly caught with a human skull and other parts of a human body.”

A resident identified as Ayo disclosed to PUNCH Online that the man, along with others, was apprehended on Thursday and subsequently taken to the anti-kidnapping police unit at Araro, Adamo.
